New high-tech diesel engines are heading for the Range Rover Sport and Land Rover Defender. The new 3.6-litre V8 diesel – already revealed in the Range Rover and set to account for 70 percent of its sales – will be available in the Sport in January 2007. CAR Online can reveal that the TDV8 HSE will cost £53,095.
This year marked the 11th running of the Michelin Challenge Bibendum. For those not familiar with the concept, the Bibendum aims to tackle the prolific issues facing the modern motorist, namely CO2 emissions and fuel consumption. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened a preliminary investigation into whether some Honda hybrid vehicles are prone to unintended acceleration. The federal auto safety regulator said Monday it had agreed to look into a complaint stemming from a fatal July 2005 crash. The driver of a 2005 Honda Accord Hybrid said she was driving over rumble strips on the side of a freeway when she tried to apply the brakes.
